John Ash is currently the band director at South Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers FL.
John has been teaching high school band for the last 8 years in Florida, Virginia
(Lakeland High School) and Tennessee (Lebanon High School). Through his teaching
career he has accomplished much with his high school bands, his shows allowed the
Lakeland High School Band to increase their scores almost 40 points over 2 years
while competing in the Tournament of Bands, and led Lebanon High School to many victories over his tenure there.
As a performer John was a full scholarship recipient at East Tennessee State University for Tuba. While at ETSU, under Paul Hinman, John was principal tuba for the Wind Ensemble, Classic Brass Quintet, Johnson City Symphony, and the Marching Bucs. While in college he worked with several high school bands as a visual and brass tech, including BOA Band, Elizabethton High School. Recently John performed with the Virginia Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dennis Zeisler, at the 2004 Mid-West Clinic in Chicago. John currently resides in Fort Myers with his fiancée and two dogs. He is very excited to be part of the Kavaliers this season and hopes to help make this the best season ever.
